Join ArtTable DC for a curator-led before-hours visit to the exhibition, "Vermeer and the Masters of Genre Painting: Inspiration and Rivalry."

At the height of the Dutch republic’s economic and artistic power (1650-1675) Johannes Vermeer worked within a network of Dutch painters who inspired, rivaled, and aimed to surpass one another. They shared a focus on meticulously painted “high life” scenes that depicted the daily lives of men and women of the elite class.  Similarities in subject matter, style, composition, and technique may be seen among their greatest works.  Study paintings by Vermeer and related artists and discover what they most admired in each others’ pictures.

Please arrive to the Gallery’s West Building entrance on 4th Street promptly at 9:00 a.m. Entry will not be permitted past 9:30 a.m. A coat check will be available upon arrival.

Parking will not be available. Please use taxis, ride-sharing services, or public transportation. Public parking is available on surrounding streets and in commercial garages.

Thank you to Jennifer Riddell, Communications Committee.
