Join ArtTable in Chicago for the second of a series of re-launch events for the local chapter. We will gather at Heritage Auctions where we will have a chance to network and socialize before learning from a panel of esteemed women in the auction business in Chicago. 


Meet our panelists! 

Catherine G. Busch, Managing Director of Christie's in Chicago
In this role, Ms. Busch brings together key art-world influencers from private collectors, trade and institutional circles to provide access to Christie’s global auction and appraisal services.  She guides both emerging and established collectors through acquisition and sale decisions.

Ms. Busch joined Christie’s in 2017, after serving as President of Branca, Inc. – a luxury interior design firm with offices in New York and Chicago.  Prior to that, Ms. Busch worked at Sotheby’s in Chicago for more than fifteen years, serving first as Vice President and Director of Press & Marketing, then as director of Sotheby’s in the Midwest, and finally as an International Associate.

Before entering the auction business, Ms. Busch served as Press Secretary and Director of Public Affairs to President and Mrs. Ronald Reagan in Los Angeles from 1989 to 1995, following her service in the Reagan White House in Washington, D.C.

With family ties to Chicago, Ms. Busch is an active member of the community and liaison between local clients and Christie’s worldwide.  She serves on the Art Institute of Chicago’s Women’s Board, Chairing the Museum’s gala celebrating Magritte in 2014 and most recently the Lecture & Luncheon featuring renowned Contemporary artist Jeff Koons in 2018.  She is a member of the museum’s Society for Contemporary Art, Sustaining Fellows and Antiquarian Society.  Ms. Busch also serves as a Lifetime Trustee of the Ronald Reagan Presidential Foundation in Los Angeles overseeing the Presidential Library and Institute.  Over many years, she has been active with the Chicago Botanic Garden, chairing the Antique, Garden & Design Show and numerous galas.  She is a former member of the Women’s Boards of the Field Museum and the University of Chicago Cancer Research Foundation.

Ms. Busch lives in Winnetka with her husband and three children.


Molly E. Gron, Senior Director of Business Development for Leslie Hindman Auctioneers 
J
oining the firm in 2015, Ms. Gron manages and develops relationships with trust officers, fiduciaries, estate planning attorneys and professional advisors across the country. 

Prior to joining Hindman, she worked at Bonhams
in New York for several years in the American Art Department. 

Ms. Gron holds a Bachelor of Arts
degree from Villanova University, M.A. in Art Business from the Sotheby’s Institute, and a J.D. from DePaul University College of Law. 

During her tenure at Hindman, she has been involved in securing property from numerous estates and collections including The Stanley Field Early Ming Bowl, The Lost Inverted Jenny 79 Collection and the Property from a Private Western Art Collection sold to benefit
a major institution.


Roberta Kramer, Managing Director of Heritage Auctions in Chicago
Roberta Kramer is a 25-year veteran of the art and antiques world. Before beginning her career in auctions, she spent two years curating for the Ben Uri Art Society in London. Returning stateside, Roberta served as Gallery Director for J. Rosenthal Fine Art until her interest in Continental Antiques led her to a management position at Rita Bucheit, Ltd. 

In 1992, with her extensive knowledge of fine art and antiques, Roberta started her auction career at Leslie Hindman Auctioneers as an account executive. In 1995, after taking a leave to found the Antiques Center at Kinzie Square, she was named Consignment Director of newly formed Chicago auction house, Susanins Auctions. While at Susanins she also managed the appraisal department and served as principal auctioneer alongside Sean Susanin. In 2001 she founded Roberta Kramer & Associates, Inc., a firm specializing in appraisals and art consulting. A recognized USPAP compliant appraiser and auctioneer, Roberta has served as a charity auctioneer for numerous charities and has been a frequent contributor to Art & Antiques Magazine.


Lauren Peterson, Midwest Regional Representative of Phillips
Phillips is the destination for international collectors to buy and sell contemporary works of art. By focusing specifically on the defining aesthetic movements of the last century. Headquartered in New York and London, with offices throughout the world, Phillips conducts sales of Contemporary Art, Photographs, Editions, Design, Watches and Jewelry. Additionally, our core art business includes special exhibitions, private sales, advising estates and corporate clients, museum and arts sponsorships, and consulting.

Prior to joining Phillips, Lauren Peterson was an account manager at Christie’s in Chicago. Between 2008 and 2017, she worked with private collectors, bankers, lawyers, museums, galleries and dealers initiating auction and private sale transactions and managing appraisals. Lauren has assisted organizations as a charity auctioneer and has lectured nationally on topics relating to the fine art, collecting and auction.  

Lauren graduated cum laude from Boston College in 2003 with a bachelor’s degree in Art History. In 2008, she received her dual-masters in Art History and Arts Administration from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. She has held positions at the Milwaukee Art Museum and the Art Institute of Chicago and the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. 

Memberships include The Arts Club of Chicago and Emerge at the Museum of Contemporary Art, Chicago. She is the Arts Chair of the Chicago Chapter of Boston College’s Alumni Association. At the Art Institute of Chicago, Lauren is currently a member of the Executive Committee of the Auxiliary Board, is a Sustaining Fellow and a member of the Society for Contemporary Art. 


Natalie Waechter, Director, Midwest Region, Bonhams
Newly appointed as the Director of the Midwest region for Bonhams, Natalie Waechter has over 27 years of experience in the sale, marketing, appraisal, organization and management of fine art. 
 
Prior to Bonhams, Natalie was the owner and president of Waechter Fine Art, a fine art appraisal and advisory firm. 
 
Natalie held the position of Director at Russell Bowman Art Advisory for 3.5 years where she managed and marketed bi-monthly gallery exhibitions and participation in Expo Chicago. During this time, she cultivated significant relationships with national and international gallery directors, museum curators, artists, conservators, and gallery clientele. She was featured on WGN Midday News promoting the images of Chicago nanny turned photographer, Vivian Maier. 
 
Natalie was a Fine Art Specialist at Sotheby’s in Chicago and was responsible for the procurement of fine art property for sale and for the annual cataloging of over $4 million in paintings, drawings, sculpture and prints from Old Masters to Contemporary. She worked closely with the City of Chicago Department of Cultural Affairs on the first national Cows on Parade citywide exhibition and auction.
 
In 1995, she earned a B.A. in Fine Arts from Columbia College, Chicago. 

Molly Morse Limmer (moderator), 2050 Art Services and ArtTable Chicago Executive Committee
Molly’s illustrious career in the art world spanned two full decades at Christie’s Auction House.  She spent her first 17 years with Christie’s flagship offices in New York where she served as Vice President, Senior Specialist and Department Head for Antiquities. During her tenure as Department Head, Molly worked with countless clients—from serious private collectors to international institutions—in acquiring, selling, evaluating, cataloguing, transporting, insuring, displaying, storing and adoring works of art.

Molly led the Antiquities Department to successfully achieving several world records at auction for ancient works of art, including presiding over and wielding the gavel for the sale of the Schuster Master Cycladic Marble Reclining Female Figure which sold for $16,800,000 in December 2010.  For over 12 years, Molly served as one of Christie’s prestigious auctioneers—and one of its few female auctioneers—for public sales and charity auctions.

In July 2014 Molly enhanced her skills when appointed Vice President, Business Development for Christie’s Midwest Regional Office, based in Chicago.  In this expanded role she worked with private clients, institutions, and galleries throughout the Midwest; Molly cultivated relationships, assisted with consignments, coordinated appraisals, and advised on art and auction matters.  

In March, 2016, Molly transformed her love for art and her profound knowledge of the industry to launch 2050 Art Services as the premiere art and antiquities consultancy in America.  Molly is a Certified Member of the Appraiser’s Association of America.  She is on the Auxiliary Board of the Art Institute of Chicago, as well as a member of the Classical Art Society, and she is a Board Member of Marwen.

Molly Morse Limmer holds an M.A. in Greek and Roman art from the Courtauld Institute of Art in London and a B.A. in Classics and Art History from Brown University. She studied at the Intercollegiate Center for Classical Studies in Rome.  Her graduate thesis, The Evolution of an Early Christian Iconography: The Sacrifice of Isaac in the Catacombs of Rome, explored the iconography of this biblical theme in its early Christian context.
