Join ArtTable SoCal for a walk-through of Marilyn Minter's exhibtion at Regen Projects!

ArtTable joins forces with Artadia for a special preview of Marilyn Minter’s third solo exhibition at Regen Projects led by the artist herself.  Minter’s paintings, photographs, and videos, which explore our culture’s complex and contradictory emotions about women’s bodies, have never been more relevant than they are in today's world of #MeToo. The artist, who has long served as a critic, humorist, provocateur, and seductress, has emerged as something of a prophet. In works such as those of her longstanding "Mouth Series" in which tongues and lips lick, suck, and drool, the viewer is implicated as a voyeur in Minter's erotic fantasies. Seen through panes of glass that suggest screens, the works evoke televised and online pornography and draw upon advertising's glamorized and fetishized stare, the artist using the language of these mediums to obscure distinctions between them as well as with a vocabulary of art very much her own. It will be our privilege  to hear Minter speak about her newest work and its continued investigations of contemporary culture.

The New York-based artist is on Artadia’s Board of Directors and has been a longtime member and frequent juror for this grant-giving arts organization. Minter has also been extremely generous to ArtTable, having recently led an artist breakfast in New York in which she conversed about her art with an independent curator. In February 2017, she conducted a tour of her exhibition Pretty/Dirty at the Brooklyn Museum for ArtTable in tandem with Curator Catherine Morris.

Thank you Roni Feinstein for organizing this program.
