Join ArtTable NY for a curator-led walk-through of the groundbreaking exhibition, “Posing Modernity: The Black Model from Manet and Matisse to Today,” with Denise Murrell, Ph.D., Ford Foundation Postdoctoral Research Scholar, Wallach Art Gallery at Columbia University. This program will take place prior to opening hours.

Based on her dissertation, Murrell’s exhibition is an ambitious and revelatory investigation of the black female figure in modern art, tracing the legacy of Manet through to contemporary art. This exhibition borrows from multiple institutions and will travel to the Musée d’Orsay, Paris, in expanded form as "Black models From Géricault to Matisse" in the Spring.
