Gallery Tour of Ana Teresa Barboza’s “In a State of Latency” at Nunu Fine Art

ArtTable Members are welcome to explore Peruvian artist Ana Teresa Barboza’s curent solo exhibition, “In a State of Latency” at Nunu Fine Art in Lower Manhattan to gain further insight into the internationally renowned artist’s practice in a range of scales, from intimate to larger than life mixed media textile works, both two-dimensional and sculptural. With an introduction to the gallery by gallery founder and owner, Nunu Hung, followed by an in-depth gallery tour led by Nunu Fine Art New York’s gallery director, Jenny Mushkin Goldman, guests will be offered insight into the artist’s current studio practice in Lima, Peru, as well as gain insight into Nunu Fine Art’s exhibition program.
About the Artist: Multimedia Peruvian artist Ana Teresa Barboza was born in Lima and lives and works in Lobitos, Piura, Peru. Barboza’s practice is rooted in her examination of natural environments and local cultures. In 2022, the artist had a solo exhibition at the Museum of Latin American Art in Buenos Aires. In 2021, she participated in the Bienal de Arte Paiz in Antigua, Guatemala.
About the Gallery: Founded in 2014 by veteran art dealer Nunu Hung, Nunu Fine Art is dedicated to presenting a broad cross-section of both emerging and established international artistic talent. The first contemporary art gallery in Taipei with a deeply multicultural outlook, Nunu Fine Art centers an innate sensibility to Asia’s cultural heritage, coupled with seasoned insight into the global contemporary art landscape. In April of 2023, Nunu Fine Art opened its second location in New York City.
The gallery’s multifaceted program ranges from solo presentations to group exhibitions from a wide breadth of artistic endeavors across continents spanning the Americas, Europe, and Asia. Since its inception, Nunu Fine Art has presented over 50 solo exhibitions, including the first in Asia by artists Petah Coyne, Rosy Keyser, Rona Pondick, and Rose Wylie. Nunu Fine Art also works with artists Thordis Adalsteinsdottir, Ana Barboza, Kaspar Bonnén, ChiaoHan Chueh, Kees Goudzwaard, Maya Hewitt, Iabadiou Piko, and Peter Zimmermann among many others. As a platform for multidisciplinary storytelling, Nunu Fine Art is committed to presenting educational programming in tandem with artistic presentations.

About the Artist

Multimedia Peruvian artist Ana Teresa Barboza was born in Lima and lives and works in Lobitos, Piura, Peru. Barboza’s practice is rooted in her examination of natural environments and local cultures. In 2022, the artist had a solo exhibition at the Museum of Latin American Art in Buenos Aires. In 2021, she participated in the Bienal de Arte Paiz in Antigua, Guatemala. Barboza has also taken part in group exhibitions at the Fashion and Textile Museum in London and the Royal Academy of Fine Arts of San Fernando in Madrid.
Nunu Fine Art presented Barboza’s first solo exhibition in Asia and has included her in two group exhibitions. Barboza received her BFA from the College of Fine Arts at Pontificia Universidad Católica del Perú (PUCP) in Lima.
