MeetAT networking event on June 12\, graciously hosted by Elizabeth East\, Director of L.A. Louver. Join us for an evening of light refreshments and engaging conversations with fellow ArtTable members and new connections. \n\n\n\nAbout L.A. Louver:L.A. Louver was established in 1975 with the mission to champion L.A. artists within an international program. In the fifty years that followed\, the gallery’s dynamic program has presented more than 660 exhibitions over the course of what has been the most significant period of creative growth in Southern California history. \n\n\n\nL.A. Louver Celebrates 50 YearsL.A. Louver is proud to celebrate their 50th anniversary with an exhibition surveying the gallery’s history\, from its formation in 1975 to now. They are delighted to commemorate this achievement with a presentation in all spaces of the gallery\, which remains on the same block as the original 1970s location. The exhibition is a portrait of L.A. Louver\, enriched and informed by history as much as the landscape of today. Though harkening back to key moments from the past\, the presentation offers points of nonlinear connection that elucidate the complex truth of an identity shaped by time\, place\, and people. Furthermore\, it is a tribute to the forces and memories that have shaped the gallery – the Bohemian art haven that was 1970s Venice Beach; the artists\, staff\, and community that have kept the program vibrant and dynamic; the bespoke building designed by Frederick Fisher & Partners that has held hundreds of exhibitions and events; and the artworks that have traveled the world. \n\n\n\nAre you considering joining ArtTable and want to know more about who we are and what we do? DESCRIPTION:Join ArtTable for a curator-led tour of East of the Pacific: Making Histories of Asian American Art at the Amon Carter Museum! Attendees will be joined by Michaela Haffner\, Assistant Curator of Paintings\, Sculpture\, and Works on Paper\, for this exciting tour. \n\n\n\nEast of the Pacific: Making Histories of Asian American Art explores the continuing artistic impact of the migration of people across the Pacific Ocean and their indispensable role in shaping American art and culture. The exhibition examines how the repositioning of America from west of the Atlantic to east of the Pacific reorients our perception of American art and its significant contributors. \n\n\n\nOrganized by and drawn from the collection of the Cantor Arts Center at Stanford University\, East of the Pacific features artworks by over 32 Asian American artists that span from the mid-19th century through the present day\, including ceramics\, drawings\, paintings\, photographs\, and prints. The exhibition is divided into six thematic sections\, which reveal vital moments in Asian American history and the multifaceted contributions of Asian descendants to American art.
