Her client base includes private collectors\, galleries\, estates\, start-ups\, art dealers\, museums\, advisors and financial institutions. Anne-Laure is a graduate of Université Paris X\, Nanterre and Université Paris II\, Panthéon-Assas. She received her J.D. and LL.M. from Cornell University. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nMaura Kehoe Collins is founder and director of Artiphile\, an independent art advisory firm specializing in art collections management services.  Established in 1991 to promote the conscientious stewardship of cultural property\, Artiphile is primarily concerned with the preservation of artistic and historic works held in collections outside museums.  Artiphile implements museum standard procedures for inventory and registration\, cataloguing\, photo-documentation and records management\, condition surveys and baseline condition reports; advises on installation\, conservation and framing\, lighting\, environmental controls\, appraisal and insurance needs\, loans\, storage\, packing\, and transit; provenance and authentication procedures\, as well as succession concerns. All needs germane to the proper maintenance of any art collection large or small\, from acquisition to disposition. \n\n\n\nCollins is a graduate of Mount Holyoke College with a BA in Art History and a minor in Asian Studies acquired during fourteen months of study in Taiwan and at Beijing Normal University in the PRC.  During college Collins worked as a curatorial assistant in the Mount Holyoke College Art Museum and as acting registrar initiated the project to computerize the Museum’s catalogue.  In post graduate studies Collins was the first recipient of the C.V. Starr Fellowship for training in Far Eastern Art Conservation at the Metropolitan Museum of Art\, New York\, a position she held for three years.  A Kress Foundation grant then funded an internship in the Eastern Pictorial Art Conservation Department of the British Museum\, London\, which led to a permanent post.  Collins continued her interest in computerized documentation by representing her department on a task force to network conservation records in all UK museums. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nSharon Chrust has been involved in the Contemporary Art market for over 25 years.  In 2003\, she started Sharon Chrust & Associates\, which provides appraisal and art consulting services to private and corporate clients. She has attained the highest accreditation of the Appraisers Association of America\, that of a Certified member and is the Immediate Past President of the Board of the organization.  In addition\, Sharon has been an adjunct instructor at New York University in the Appraisal Studies program\, is an instructor for the Appraisers Association of America’s CASP program\, and was President of the Board of Franklin Street Works\, a non-profit arts space in Stamford\, Connecticut. \n\n\n\nSharon has participated in a number of national and international panels\, and discussions on art and art appraising\, in cities as diverse as Shanghai\, New York City\, Greenwich\, and Sarasota. She has been quoted in articles in Artnews\, and Artsy\, and has written articles on insurance appraisals\, and contributed essays to publications on posthumous editions\, and appraisal writing. Prior to starting Sharon Chrust & Associates\, Sharon was a gallery director at the Waterside Art Gallery in Stamford\, CT\, a docent at the Whitney Museum of American Art and worked in the public relations department of the Cooper Hewitt Museum. She has a Masters in Art History from Hunter College\, a BA from Boston University\, has completed the Certificate of Appraisal Studies at NYU and has passed the Uniform Standards of Appraisal Practice Exam. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nTanya Wells began her career in museum education at The Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth under Terri Thornton and Michael Auping. She has worked as a specialist and sales director with Christie’s New York and Bonhams in 19th and 20th Century art for almost twenty years. Tanya also spent a brief time with Winston Art Group in the advisory division assisting large collections and family offices.  \n\n\n\nTanya currently owns and oversees TMSW Art Advisory\, an independent practice focused on creating fine art collections and consulting with families and fiduciaries to manage the unique needs of collectors during a transition\, or at the end of a collecting period. Best known for her large-scale embroideries made from hundreds of vibrant colored threads\, which the artist referred to as quadros de lã (“wool paintings”)\, the exhibition represents more than half of all known works by the artist and examines the artist’s work through a variety of lenses\, including gender\, race\, and socio-economic dynamics. \n\n\n\nA Head Full of Planets explores the context in which Santos Reinbolt’s artistic practice crystallized in the early 1950s\, after she became a live-in cook for the architect Lota de Macedo Soares and her partner\, the American poet Elizabeth Bishop\, at their home in Petrópolis\, a mountain getaway favored by Brazilian high society. Her work is heavily inspired by personal experiences\, community narratives\, and the resilience of marginalized voices. \n\n\n\nVisitors can expect a behind-the-scenes look at how her sculptures and mixed media works come together\, and insight into the themes that ground her practice. She will also preview a few upcoming projects that continue to explore these narratives in new ways. \n\n\n\nLex Marie (b. 1992: Prince Georges County\, MD) is a multidisciplinary artist who creates paintings\, sculptures and installations that reflect her individual experiences yet encompasses the experiences of many in the African diaspora. Marie’s artistic practice is as an exploration of the weighty realities experienced by many African American children and children of color. Her work is a testament to the profound impact of adultification biases\, food insecurity\, and the systemic challenges entrenched in American school systems\, healthcare systems\, in the home and out in the world. Through a fusion of everyday materials\, often reclaimed and repurposed\, Marie offers a tangible manifestation of the intangible struggles faced by these young minds\, compelling viewers to confront the profound significance inherent in the seemingly ordinary. \n\n\n\nMarie holds a BA in studio art with a concentration in painting from the University of Maryland\, College Park. Marie’s most recent solo exhibition “LetThem Kids Be Kids” opened at the Museum of Contemporary Art Arlington (2022). She creates precisely crafted narratives of American life\, selecting\, styling\, and photographing her sitters as the foundation for her nuanced paintings. Thus\, while Sherald (b. 1973; Columbus\, Georgia) bases her works on specific people\, they are more than traditional portraits. They center everyday Black Americans\, compelling in their individuality and extraordinary in their ordinariness\, inviting viewers to step into Sherald’s imagined worlds. In this exhibition\, paintings of such ordinary Americans join her iconic portraits of First Lady Michelle Obama and\, heartbreakingly\, Breonna Taylor\, to produce a resonant ode to the multiplicity and complexity of American identity.  \n\n\n\nLouis Nevelson had a long and deep relationship with the Whitney Museum\, which organized her first retrospective in 1967. Today the Museum is one of the largest repositories of her work\, with over ninety sculptures\, drawings\, and prints in the collection\, many of them gifts of the artist. While grounded in this tradition\, she continually expands its boundaries\, exploring new forms of expression that challenge conventional abstract frameworks. David Ebony observes that Tint rejects rigid formalism in favor of an intuitive method\, balancing energetic movement with moments of stillness. This interplay creates what he describes as a ‘Zen feeling’—a sense of clarity and resolution within complex visual structures. Over five decades\, Tint has remained committed to discovery and reinvention. While sharing affinities with peers such as Larry Poons\, her synthesis of gesture and color distinguishes her vision. Informed by early memories\, including childhood memories of Paraná’s vanishing Araucaria forests\, her practice uses personal experience to explore ecological\, political\, and social themes. Josely Carvalho classifies her work as “Diaries” “Books” and “Chapters”. By approaching a broad range of materials as texts\, Carvalho unravels narrative expectations to address issues of feminism\, indigenous rights\, and shelter in her multisensory and empathetic oeuvre. \n\n\n\nCarvalho studied art and architecture in St. Louis\, Missouri\, before relocating to New York City in the 1970s\, where she became a pivotal figure in the city’s activist and Latin American artist communities. She was a leading member of Artist’s Call Against U.S. Intervention in Central America. She founded The Silk Screen Project at St. Mark’s Church in the Bowery\, amplifying marginalized voices through collective creative production. In recent years\, Carvalho has emerged as a pioneer in the field of olfactory art through her ongoing Diary of Smells series\, culminating in works like Glass Ceiling: Resilience (2018)\, at at the Museum of Contemporary Art in São Paulo\, for which she received the International Art and Olfaction Sadakichi Award in 2019. \n\n\n\nHer work has been exhibited widely across the Americas\, including exhibitions at the Museu Nacional de Belas Artes (Rio de Janeiro)\, the Hammer Museum (Los Angeles)\, the Museum of Contemporary Art (São Paulo)\, and the Brooklyn Museum’s landmark exhibition Radical Women: Latin American Art\, 1960–1985. Carvalho’s practice has been recognized with major awards from the Creative Capital Foundation\, the Rockefeller Foundation\, and the National Endowment for the Arts. In 2022\, she became the first Brazilian artist to receive the Lee Krasner Award for Lifetime Achievement from the Pollock-Krasner Foundation. Childs DESCRIPTION:We are excited to present a Curator-Led Tour of Vivian Browne: My Kind of Protest at the Phillips Collection with Adrienne L. Childs! \n\n\n\nDrawing upon previously unknown works and archival findings\, this exhibition recovers the depth and variety of the more than three-decade career of Vivian Browne (b. 1929\, Laurel\, FL; d. 1993\, New York\, NY). The exhibition features paintings\, prints\, and works on paper across seven bodies of work\, as well as ephemera that highlight Browne’s pioneering activism and influential teaching career. Browne was a founder of the Black Emergency Cultural Coalition\, an organization that fought for Black representation in New York museums; a founder of SoHo20\, one of the first women’s art cooperatives in Manhattan; and a professor at Rutgers University (1971–92). Her signature approach to color and form challenged the neatly defined categories of abstraction and figuration\, and art and politics\, revealing a more nuanced approach to art-making that is part of Browne’s unique contribution to 20th-century art of the US. \n\n\n\nAdrienne L. Childs is an independent scholar\, art historian\, and curator. She is Senior Consulting Curator at The Phillips Collection. Her current book is an exploration of Black figures in European decorative arts entitled Ornamental Blackness: The Black Figure in European Decorative Arts\, publshed by Yale University Press. She is currently co-curator of Vivian Browne: My Kind of Protest for The Phillips Collection. She recently co-curated The Colour of Anxiety: Race\, Sexuality and Disorder in Victorian Sculpture at The Henry Moore Institute in Leeds\, England. For the artist\, the act of painting is akin to an act of worship. Across her work\, Zvavahera engages deeply with the African Pentecostal and Indigenous Shona traditions in which she was raised\, illuminating the centrality of dreams\, ancestors\, and revelation to both belief systems. The artist merges painting and printmaking techniques to conjure worlds glimpsed in her dreams\, where figures commune with spirits\, and protective comforts and nightmares collide in stirring unions. Guggenheim Museum\, New York (NY); and the Whitney Museum of American Art\, New York (NY)\, among many others.Minter is represented by Salon 94\, New York\, Regen Projects\, Los Angeles\, Lehmann Maupin\, Hong Kong/Seoul. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nSara Reisman is a curator\, educator\, and writer based in New York City. Her curatorial and educational engagements have focused on socially engaged art\, the history of exhibition making\, public art\, both temporary and permanent\, artist books\, and the intersections between art and activism. She has held roles in curatorial\, philanthropic\, and educational capacities including Chief Curator at the National Academy of Design (2021-2025)\, Executive and Artistic Director of the Shelley & Donald Rubin Foundation (2014-2021)\, and Director of New York City’s Percent for Art Program (2008-2014)\, where she managed more than 100 permanent public art commissions across New York City’s five boroughs. Reisman has taught art history and contemporary art at the University of Pennsylvania and SUNY Purchase School of Art + Design\, and since 2016\, she has been on the faculty at the School of Visual Arts’ Curatorial Practice MA Program. In her most recent curatorial role at the National Academy\, she organized large-scale thematic exhibitions including Past as Prologue: A Historical Acknowledgment\, which examined the role of art in U.S. nation-building; Drawing as Practice; Consequences: A Parlor Game; Exercises in Imagination; and Sites of Impermanence. \n\n\n\n\n\nPhoto by Elia Alba\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nKatie Wilson-Milne is a partner at the boutique law firm Schindler Cohen & Hochman LLP and advises clients in the art\, cultural and creative communities\, including art businesses\, dealers\, collectors\, artists\, and not-for-profit corporations in the art space on transactional matters related to the creation\, purchase\, sale\, lending and financing of art\, as well as gallery\, auction house\, and museum relationships and intellectual property matters. She also represents art clients in a wide variety of disputes including fraud\, breach of contract\, copyright infringement\, and artist gallery relationships. \n\n\n\nKatie also writes\, teaches and speaks publicly about a variety of art law related topics. Katie teaches art law at the Yale Law School and co-hosts of The Art Law Podcast with Steve Schindler. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nElizabeth Larison is our panel moderator for this program. Elizabeth is Director of the Arts & Culture Advocacy Program at the National Coalition Against Censorship\, a member of Don’t Delete Art\, and a curator. Presenting an array of paintings\, lace\, prints\, paper cuttings\, embroidery\, and sculpture\, this exhibition draws on recent scholarship to demonstrate that a full view of women’s contributions to the artistic economy is essential to understanding Dutch and Flemish visual culture of the period. \n\n\n\nVirginia (Ginny) Treanor\, Ph.D. serves as Senior Curator\, National Museum of Women in the Arts Treanor is the Senior Curator at the National Museum of Women in the Arts (NMWA) in Washington\, D.C. and holds a Ph.D. in seventeenth-century Dutch and Flemish art\, which she earned at the University of Maryland. Scott | Renée Stout\, dovetails with the recent group exhibition\, Anonymous Was a Woman: The First 25 Years organized by and presented at the New York University’s Grey Art Museum\, April 1-July 19\, 2025\, and co-curated by Nancy Princenthal and Vesela Sretenović. \n\n\n\nThe Grey exhibition celebrated the first quarter-century of the Anonymous Was a Woman (AWAW) grant program\, established in 1996 by visionary philanthropist and artist Susan Unterberg. The program is dedicated to supporting mid-career women artists living and working in the United States. Its name refers to a phrase in Virginia Woolf’s essay A Room of One’s Own\, which underscores the challenges that creative women have historically faced in a male-dominated society.  \n\n\n\nThe Kreeger Museum’s exhibition\, curated by Sretenović\, focuses exclusively on four AWAW recipients who reside and work in the Washington\, DC metropolitan area: Jae Ko (AWAW 2012)\, linn meyers (AWAW 2023)\, Joyce J. Scott (AWAW 1997)\, and Renée Stout (AWAW 1999). While the Grey exhibition featured works created around the time of each artist’s award\, The Kreeger Museum’s presentation spotlights the most recent work of its participating artists\, picking up where the Grey show left off in 2020. Most recently (2009-23) she served as Director of Contemporary Art Initiatives and Academic Affairs at The Phillips Collection in Washington DC. During her tenure\, she had organized Intersections\, a series of ongoing contemporary art projects\, as well as monographic exhibitions of prominent artists including Robert Ryman\, Ellsworth Kelly\, Antony Gormley\, and the first museum retrospective of Cuban artist Zilia Sanchez. Additionally\, she oversaw academic partnership initiatives with the University of Maryland (UMD) and the University of Virginia (UVA). Prior to The Phillips\, Sretenović worked at Brown University\, the University at Buffalo SUNY\, and the Brooklyn Museum of Art. She is a frequent visiting faculty\, teaching modern and contemporary art history and theory\, and works as an independent curator.
