DESCRIPTION:9am PT / 10am MT / 11am CT / 12pm ET\nPlease join Doro Globus\, Managing Director of David Zwirner Books\, and Genevieve Martin\, Director of External Affairs and Advancement at the Children’s Museum of the Arts\, for a discussion on the motivation behind Globus’ newly published children’s book\, Making a Great Exhibition. Globus will also talk about the publishing program at David Zwirner. We will hear more about how the program works and why it is a crucial part of the gallery’s offerings. \nIn Making a Great Exhibition\, Globus identified a need to demystify the museum space and offer insight into how it works. Thinking beyond the finished product–the exhibition or the artwork–Globus steps back to show how many people and skills are involved along the way. She features curators\, art handlers\, educators\, photographers\, shippers\, museum visitors\, and more as she describes the process. Both author and illustrator\, Rose Blake\, were raised in the art world\, spending their time in studios\, doing homework in museum offices\, and going to special openings. They have teamed up to share their experiences and love for this world of creative people. \nParents are encouraged to bring their children to this program! All programs are non-refundable. \n\nAbout the speakers\nDoro Globus lives in London and is the Managing Director of David Zwirner Books. She has worked in arts publishing for fifteen years. Formerly the Publisher of Ridinghouse\, an independent arts publisher owned by Karsten Schubert\, she has edited a wide variety of books\, from Michael Bracewell: The Space Between (2012) to About Bridget Riley: Selected Writings 1999–2016 (2017). She has also written on Dawn Ades\, Fred Wilson\, and others. \n \n  \n  \n  \n  \n  \n  \n  \nGenevieve Martin is a born-and-bred New Yorker\, visual artist\, and experienced arts administrator. She joined Children’s Museum of the Arts in Spring 2021 where she oversees strategic partnerships in her role as Director of External Affairs and Advancement. \nPreviously\, Genevieve served as the Interim Managing Director of The Center for Italian Modern Art and as the Director of External Affairs at The Art Students League of New York. She has supported projects at The Morgan Library & Museum\, Christie’s\, The Moving Museum\, and The Metropolitan Museum of Art. Genevieve has a proven track record in strategic planning\, PR\, fundraising\, and creative partnerships within an arts education framework. Her focus is on small to mid-sized art nonprofits\, which she believes are responsible for engaging in the most experimental work and serve as social facilitators for larger institutions. She attended The Horace Mann School\, The Cooper Union\, and did her MA work in Arts Administration at Baruch College. Genevieve is presently a Diversity in the Arts Leadership Mentor and has previously served as an ArtTable Fellowship mentor. \nAbout David Zwirner Books\nDavid Zwirner Books publishes the highest quality art publications. The book was written to reflect Donna’s work to assemble a collection of contemporary art for a new Museum of Contemporary Art in Tehran\, Iran under the auspices of the Imperial Empress Pahlavi\, wife of the Shah of Iran. All programs are non-refundable. \n\nAbout the speakers\nDonna Stein worked for six years at the Museum of Modern Art in New York\, NY after completing her BA at University of California\, Los Angeles. She continued her studies at The Institute of Fine Arts at NYU\, NYC. Stein has written extensively in articles and books on many art subjects including Cubism\, Modern Illustrated Books\, and Photography. She is the first American scholar to study 19th century photography in Iran. Stein has also received awards for her meticulous scholarship. She recently retired as Deputy Director at the Wende Museum of the Cold War in Los Angeles. \nDorothy Goldeen is an art advisor and former gallery owner. Between 2014-2020\, Dorothy was honored to serve as the President of Stone Art LLC and Allan Stone Projects in New York\, the exclusive representative of the Allan Stone Collection\, one of the largest private art collections ever amassed by an individual. Dorothy presided over the sale of an unprecedented number of artworks\, through exhibitions at Allan Stone Projects\, to private collectors\, institutions\, and at auction. In 2021\, Dorothy relaunched Dorothy Goldeen Art Advisory\, which she had initiated in Los Angeles in 1996. Prior to that\, she owned and operated Dorothy Goldeen Gallery in Santa Monica. The gallery represented artists such as Nam June Paik and Magdalena Abakanowicz\, gave early shows to international and trailblazing artists\, such as Beatriz Milhazes\, Diana Thater\, Charles Gaines\, and David Wojnarowicz. Dorothy currently lives and works in New York. She has served on ArtTable’s Board of Directors and was the founding Chair of the Chapter Leadership Forum\, as well as serving twice as the Chair of the Southern California Chapter in Los Angeles. Rosen!\n\nArtTable Executive Director Jessica Porter will join us for a look back at 2021 and a look ahead to the coming year with ArtTable\, nationally and within our NY chapter. If you require additional accommodations\, please email programs@arttable.org.\n\n\n\nAbout Randy Rosen\nAn independent curator\, adviser\, author\, and an adjunct professor at New York University’s School of Professional Studies for over a decade\, Randy joined ArtTable shortly after the organization’s founding. Since then\, she’s actively contributed to its history and growth\, organizing innovative programs and spearheading innumerable initiatives that have helped raise ArtTable’s voice and visibility in the art world.\n\nWorking with ArtTable founder Lila Harnett and founding member Carol Morgan\, Randy helped launch and edit ArtWire\, the organization’s first newsletter\, and a “first” in connecting professional women leaders across the country to readily share art projects\, explore job opportunities and raise awareness for critical developments in their fields. As an officer of the Board and a member of the Board’s Executive Committee\, Randy advocated for strategic program planning and partnerships that would establish ArtTable as a “change-maker” organization elevating the status of professional women in the visual arts\, but also as an outward-looking platform engaging with thought-leaders and ground-breaking artists bringing new ideas and issues to the art world discourse.\n\nTwice Co-chair of the New York Chapter Communications Committee\, Randy was tasked to become editor\, teaming up with managing editor\, Barbra Cavaliere\, and designer\, Renee Skuba\, to produce Changing the Equation: Women’s Leadership in the Visual Arts\, 1980-2005\, for ArtTable’s 25th anniversary\, a book that documented the organization’s pivotal role in advancing opportunities for professional women in the visual arts. Randy also served as Chair of the New York Chapter Programs Committee\, and later as a long-time committee member\, she continued to organize thought-provoking programs\, among them ArtTable’s very first year-long series: The Digitization of The Art World\, a series of panels\, talks\, seminars\, and workshops partnering with The New Museum\, Sony Wonder Lab\, MoMA\, Artsy\, and The School of Visual Arts in examining the transformative impact of digitization and new media on the art world.\n\nThat penchant for innovative and intellectually stimulating programming became a hallmark of Randy Rosen Arts Associates (RRAA)\, the business she opened in the 1980s. In her more than 30 years as a specialist in developing art programming\, corporate art collections\, traveling museum exhibitions\, and their associated educational agendas\, she’s built a reputation for eschewing formulaic\, boilerplate formats for approaches that extend the impact of the visual arts in the workplace and increase the representation of women and artists of color and diverse backgrounds.\n\nHer experience includes working with large and smaller companies\, among them Bristol Myers\, Verizon\, Sony\, Telemundo\, Maidenform\, Rudin Management\, Lakeview Capital\, and for over 15 years as curator of the AlixPartners Global Art Program. She served as a member of Polaroid’s Cultural Advisory Task Force and as founding curator and manager of “On The Leading Edge: Cross-Currents in Contemporary Art\,” the General Electric company’s original Art Program. With associate curator\, Catherine Brawer\, Randy curated\, and RRAA organized\, the landmark traveling museum exhibition\, Making Their Mark: Women Artists Move into the Mainstream\, 1970-1985. The show’s catalog included the first comprehensive\, inter-generational research on institutional and art world barriers to the visibility and advancement of women artists.\n\nRandy has collaborated on projects with institutions such as the Metropolitan Museum of Art\, The Whitney Museum\, The Philadelphia Academy of Fine Art\, The Denver Art Museum\, Houston’s Blaffer Gallery\, The McNay Institute\, San Antonio\, and Boston’s Museum of The National Center of Afro-American Artists\, and others. An author of several books on art\, including Prints\, a history of printmaking\, and numerous articles\, her forthcoming book\, The Selective Eye: Seeing Beyond Beauty\, will be released this spring.
