Photo by Simon Cherry.\n\n\n\n\n\nJoin ArtTable for a day trip to New Canaan\, Connecticut. \n\n\n\nOur day begins with an Executive Director & Curator-Led Tour of America Abroad: Art\, Architecture\, and Diplomacy with Laurence Lafforgue at the Onera Foundation. Presented on the occasion of the 250th anniversary of the United States\, the exhibition offers rare public access to artworks typically seen only at US embassies—spaces not generally open to the public—and explores how art and architecture have shaped the United States’ diplomatic presence abroad from the Cold War to today. The exhibition includes works by leading American artists including Carmen Herrera\, Jasper Johns\, Ellsworth Kelly\, Sol LeWitt\, Roy Lichtenstein\, Julie Mehretu\, Martin Puryear\, Robert Rauschenberg\, Ed Ruscha\, Joel Shapiro\, Frank Stella\, Carrie Mae Weems and many others. A replica of the 1823 William J. Stone engraving of the Declaration of Independence will also be on view. A parallel section focuses on the evolution of US embassy architecture\, featuring buildings designed by leading midcentury architects such as Edward Durell Stone and Walter Gropius\, alongside more recent contributions by firms including Skidmore\, Owings & Merrill (SOM) and KieranTimberlake\, among others. \n\n\n\nIn the afternoon\, we will visit The Glass House and Galleries for a two hour tour. The tour includes access to 5 structures – the Glass House\, Brick House\, Painting Gallery\, Sculpture Gallery\, and Da Monsta – with a three-quarter mile walk over paths (gravel and paved) and grass. To mark the centennial of Robert Rauschenberg’s birth\, The Glass House together with the Robert Rauschenberg Foundation proudly presents Tomashi Jackson and Robert Rauschenberg: The Catch One.
