SUMMARY:Northwest | Ginny Ruffner Studio & Garden Tour
DESCRIPTION:Join ArtTable’s Northwest chapter for a special Members-only Studio & Garden tour with renowned artist\, Ginny Ruffner.  \n\n\n\nWe will take a tour of the studio and hear about the plans for the future of Ginny’s space\, which will eventually be converted to the headquarters of the artist’s nonprofit foundation\, SOLA. ArtTable member extraordinaire\, Marge Levy\, and Director of SOLA\, Nichole DeMent\, will discuss Ginny’s artwork\, her career\, and her continued legacy to uplift the local arts community in Seattle. \n\n\n\nThis program is open to ArtTable members only for $35. Please note that attendance is capped at 25 attendees due to space limitations. \n\n\n\nNot a member? Accessibility The studio and gardens are wheelchair accessible. This will be a walking tour with a fair amount of standing required\, but there is seating available in the garden as well as in the studio if needed.  Getting There The studio is located in the Ballard neighborhood of Seattle. The exact address and directions will be shared upon registration. \n\n\n\n \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAbout the Artist\nGinny Ruffner is a Seattle-based artist\, trained at the University of Georgia as a painter\, graduating with honors and an M.F.A. Ruffner has had 88 solo shows\, several hundred group shows\, and her work is in 55 permanent museum and public collections around the world. Seattle public art installations include a 30-foot tall kinetic water feature downtown and a permanent installation in the Seattle Art Museum’s Olympic Sculpture Park. Recent Augmented Reality projects include ‘Weston Riff’ at Photo Center NW\, ‘Branches’ at Seattle International Film Festival\, ‘Poetic Hybrids’ at Seattle Art Museum\, and the Institute for Systems Biology\, and the NFFTY festival at Seattle Center. The next exhibition: ‘Reforestation of the Imagination’ was exhibited at the Smithsonian in DC; June 28\, 2019-Jan 5 2020. Accompanied by a book\, it is currently traveling around the US. \nShe has written two books and been the subject of an award winning\, full-length documentary titled “A Not So Still Life\, the Ginny Ruffner Story”. In 2016 Ruffner founded the non-profit SOLA (Support Old Lady Artists) to recognize female artists. SOLA’s mission is to award cash grants\, professional support and greater recognition to female visual artists over 60 who are currently working and living in Washington State and have created a body of work spanning at least 25 years. The SOLA Award honors accomplished yet under-recognized women artists for their dedication and persistence.
