SUMMARY:Brooklyn\, NY | Studio Visit with Carole Feuerman
DESCRIPTION:Join ArtTable for a studio visit with Carole Feuerman! We will begin this program at Carole’s studio in East Williamsburg\, and will then walk as a group to her second studio a few blocks away. Stairs are required to enter the studio\, please let us know if you will need access to an elevator. \n\n\n\nCarole Feuerman (b. 1945\, Hartford\, Connecticut) is a pioneering figure in superrealist sculpture whose work has helped redefine contemporary figuration over the past five decades. Internationally recognized for her monumentally scaled and technically exacting depictions of the human form\, Feuerman is best known for iconic works such as Innertube\, The Golden Mean\, and her celebrated swimmer series. Her sculptures merge extraordinary surface realism with psychological stillness and emotional resonance\, transforming the body into a vehicle for themes of resilience\, vulnerability\, endurance\, and renewal. \n\n\n\nBeginning her career in the 1960s as a painter and illustrator—creating work for major publications\, album covers\, and commercial commissions—Feuerman transitioned into sculpture in the 1970s through fragmented wall works and experimental figurative pieces. By the 1990s\, she had expanded into monumental resin\, bronze\, and stainless steel sculptures that established her as one of the leading voices in superrealism. In recent years\, her work has evolved further through fragmented figures inscribed with mythological tattoo imagery\, exploring identity\, power\, and the body as a layered cultural surface. \n\n\n\nFeuerman’s work has been exhibited internationally in museums\, biennials\, and public spaces\, including major presentations in New York\, Rome\, Venice\, Naples\, Geneva\, and Baku. Her sculptures are held in numerous museum\, private\, and public collections worldwide. In 2011\, she founded the Feuerman Sculpture Foundation to support artists through exhibitions\, education\, residencies\, and public art initiatives. Her most recent honor includes the 2026 Lifetime Achievement Award from the International Sculpture Center\, recognizing her enduring contributions to contemporary sculpture and the evolution of figurative art. \n\n\n\n\n\nFor questions about access or to request accommodations please contact us at programs@arttable.org. \n\n\n\nProgram Admission: \n\n\n\n\nArtTable Members – $35\n\n\n\nArtTable Member Guest – $45\n\n\n\nGeneral Admission – $55\n\n\n\n\nNot a member? Join today! \n\n\n\nAll program registration fees go toward event expenses and administrative costs for the organization. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nArtTable’s programs are made possible by the New York State Council on the Arts with the support of the Office of the Governor and the New York State Legislature. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThis program is supported\, in part\, by public funds from the New York City Department of Cultural Affairs in partnership with the City Council.
