Morton Fine Art specializes in a stellar roster of nationally and internationally renowned artists and has an additional focus on artwork of the African and Global Diaspora.  \n\n\n\nAt Morton Fine Art: Liz TranInspired by early memories of the artist being administered Rorschach tests — a psychological evaluation of mental health and trauma through associative responses to inkblots — Tran transforms and transports the familiar monochromatic prints into a world of vibrant\, technicolor panels that explore the nature of viewer subjectivity. Varying her compositions from symmetrical renderings–like a Rorschach print–to others more liberally abstracted\, Tran’s works challenge the notion of a correct way to view art. Like the well-known psychological test\, Tran’s art performs an introspective function in which the viewer’s interpretation is self-reflexive and can facilitate self-knowledge.Liz Tran (b. 1979) explores the shapes of nature\, with the infusion of fantastical\, pulsing synthetic hues\, channeling subjects such as dream imagery\, imagined landscapes\, geodes\, outer space\, and The Big Bang. Public collections of Tran’s work include the City of Seattle’s Portable Works Collection; Capital One; Vulcan Inc.; Baer Art Center; Camac Art Centre; The El Paso Children’s Hospital; Harborview Medical Center\, Seattle; and The King County Public Art Collection. Tran has completed multiple special projects and installations\, including work for VH1 Save the Music Foundation\, The Upstream Music Fest\, The Seattle Art Museum\, The Brain Project Toronto\, Public Art at The Aqua Art Fair Miami\, and Vulcan Inc.She has been awarded multiple fellowships and grants\, including a Grant for Artist Projects (GAP) from Artist Trust\, Clowes Fellowship for residency at the Vermont Studio Center\, the Nellie Cornish Scholarship and residency at The Camac Art Centre in France\, The Baer Art Center in Iceland\, Jentel Foundation\, Millay Colony for the Arts\, and The Center for Contemporary Printmaking. Loeb Associate Professor of the Humanities and Associate Professor of African and African American Studies at Harvard University. She is the founder of Vision & Justice\, a leading publishing and research initiative that serves as a key organizer\, partner\, and resource for artists\, scholars\, and leaders seeking to examine the foundational role of visual culture in America’s representational democracy. Lewis is also known for her landmark work on creativity and the gift of failure for innovation. \n\n\n\nShe has authored and edited over 60 publications including the award-winning book\, The Unseen Truth: When Race Changed Sight in America (Harvard University Press\, 2024); the bestseller\, The Rise: Creativity\, the Gift of Failure\, and the Search for Mastery (Simon & Schuster\, 2014); and the award-winning volumes Carrie Mae Weems (MIT Press\, 2021) and “Vision & Justice” (Aperture\, 2016)\, taught widely in universities in the United States and abroad and made required reading for incoming first-year students at New York University Tisch School of the Arts. \n\n\n\nA frequent speaker at universities and conferences\, her mainstage TED talk\, Embrace the Near Win\, has received 3.1 million views. She has delivered keynotes\, talks and commencement addresses for many universities and organizations. As founder of Vision & Justice\, Lewis has organized landmark convenings and founded a Vision & Justice Book Series\, launched in partnership with Aperture. Her writing has been published in the New Yorker\, The New York Times\, Artforum\, and the New York Review of Books\, and her work has been the subject of profiles from Vogue to The Boston Globe to The New York Times. Sarah was ArtTable’s 2006 New Leadership Awardee. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nEileen Kinsella is an arts and culture journalist who has been covering the international art market for more than 25 years. She has worked at The Wall Street Journal\, ARTnews\, and Artnet News covering international auctions\, high-profile legal disputes and legal developments that impact issues of provenance\, ownership\, and authenticity. She co-created and co-hosted the podcast Art World Infamy\, and has appeared on CNBC\, Reuters\, and BBC television and was featured in art documentarites\, Driven to Abstraction and For The Money.More recently she has contributed stories to CULTURED\, Art & Object\, The Art Newspaper and Arthur Analytics. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nMarcela Guerrero is the DeMartini Family Curator at the Whitney Museum of American Art\, New York. Alongside Drew Sawyer\, Guerrero is the co-curator of the eighty-second edition of the Whitney Biennial—the longest-running survey of contemporary art in the United States. At the Whitney\, Guerrero also curated no existe un mundo poshuracán: Puerto Rican Art in the Wake of Hurricane Maria and Martine Gutierrez: Supremacy in 2022-23\, among other exhibitions. From 2014 to 2017\, she was the Curatorial Fellow for Radical Women: Latin American Art\, 1960-1985 organized at the Hammer Museum in Los Angeles. Prior to joining the Hammer\, she worked in the Latin American and Latino art department at the Museum of Fine Arts\, Houston. Guerrero’s writing has appeared in several exhibition catalogues and in art journals. Born and raised in Puerto Rico\, Guerrero holds a PhD in art history from the University of Wisconsin\, Madison. Marcela was ArtTable’s 2025 New Leadership Awardee. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nPhoto: Gabriela Herman\n\n\n\n\n\nAlexis Lowry is Curatorial Senior Director at Hauser & Wirth\, where she develops and implements artist driven programming and collaborations across the gallery’s global network of locations. Recent projects include David Smith: No One Thing; Mary Heilmann: Daydream Nation (with Gary Simmons); Camille Henrot: A Number of Things; and Susan Rothenberg: The Weather.Prior to joining Hauser & Wirth\, Lowry was a curator at Dia Art Foundation\, where she oversaw commissions\, exhibitions\, public programs\, and the permanent collection across the institution’s sites and locations. During her tenure\, she organized more than two dozen presentations by artists including Mel Bochner\, Melvin Edwards\, Charles Gaines\, Rita McBride\, Delcy Morelos\, Charlotte Posenenske\, Lucy Raven\, and Dorothea Rockburne\, among others. A curator and scholar with particular interests in Minimalism\, Postminimalism\, and Land art\, Lowry also played a  key role in the stewardship of Dia’s site specific works and in expanding the institution’s approach to land based practices.Previously\, Lowry served as curator of the David Winton Bell Gallery at Brown University and worked as a freelance project manager for Creative Time.  \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nVictoria Rogers is the Director of Strategy in the Office of the COO at Autodesk. She has also worked as an Advisor at X [Google X]\, where she focused on generative AI and \, and as the Director of Arts at Kickstarter\, where she raised over $9M for over 200 cultural projects from more than 90K people. Victoria holds an MBA from Stanford University\, an MFA in Industrial and Civic Service Design from Parsons School of Design\, and a BA in Art History from Yale University. Victoria is a board member of the Brooklyn Museum\, the Studio Museum in Harlem\, the Terra Foundation\, and co-chair and co-founder of the Black Trustee Alliance for Art Museums. She serves as an Impact Fellow with BAG VC\, where she is researching and developing strategies to reduce bias in AI. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nDare Turner is the Curator of Indigenous Art at the Brooklyn Museum and a member of the Yurok Tribe. In 2024\, she co-organized Preoccupied: Indigenizing the Museum at the Baltimore Museum of Art\, which included nine exhibitions\, interpretative interventions across the Museum\, and a catalogue. At the Brooklyn Museum\, she curated Nico Williams: Aaniin\, I See Your Light and co-curated Towards Joy: New Frameworks for American Art\, a radical reinstallation of the American Wing guided by Indigenous ways of knowing and Black feminist theory. DESCRIPTION:Sampler c.1789\, Ruthy Rogers.\n\n\n\n\n\nJoin ArtTable for a Curator-Led Tour of “Locating Girlhood: Place and Identity in Early American “Schoolgirl” Art with Emelie Gevalt\, PhD. \n\n\n\nFeaturing spectacular examples of needlework and other ornamental arts made by American girls in the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries\, Locating Girlhood: Place and Identity in Early American “Schoolgirl” Art sheds new light on a rich but understudied genre\, offering one of the most significant presentations on the subject in recent memory. This major loan exhibition brings together approximately 100 exceptional objects from over 35 museums and private collections nationwide\, uniting celebrated masterpieces with remarkable lesser-known gems rarely seen by the public. \n\n\n\nUnlike many earlier exhibitions\, Locating Girlhood explores girlhood artworks from an explicitly art historical perspective\, reframing these objects through the lens of place. Though the story of landscape art in the United States has traditionally centered on male academic painters\, American girls and young women were laboring over a variety of landscape scenes long before the Hudson River School. From the eighteenth century onwards\, representations of landscape were a common visual thread in samplers\, needlework pictures\, watercolors\, and other artworks commonly united under the umbrella term “schoolgirl art\,” extending from country scenes and cityscapes to maps and other cartographic compositions. Marc Wanamaker/Bison Archives.\n\n\n\n\n\nWhen films were silent\, fashion spoke volumes. Goddesses in the Machine reveals the untold story of costume and style in early Hollywood\, from actors wearing their own clothes to the birth of the movie costume designer. The first major exhibition to explore fashion in American silent film\, Goddesses in the Machine shows how silent films transformed fashion from personal expression into powerful storytelling\, creating the blueprint for modern movie glamour. Bringing together a selection of rare surviving objects from the advent of cinema\, the exhibition highlights the behind-the-scenes work of famous designers such as Travis Banton\, Henri Bendel\, Clare West\, and Lucile\, Lady Duff-Gordon\, as well as lesser-known names including Madame Frances\, I. Miller\, Natacha Rambova\, and Lilian St. Cyr. A vibrant display of ensembles and accessories at the Bard Graduate Center Gallery will be enriched by accompanying film clips and works on paper including photographs\, posters\, film stills\, and costume design sketches. \n\n\n\nEmma Cormack (BGC MA 2018) is associate curator for exhibitions and Study Collection curator at Bard Graduate Center. With a background in decorative arts\, design history\, and material culture\, her research specialties include the history of fashion and textiles with a particular interest in department stores\, consumer culture\, and print advertising in late nineteenth- and early twentieth-century France and the United States. At BGC\, she was the cocurator of Threads of Power: Lace from the Textilmuseum St. Gallen (2022–23) and coeditor of the accompanying publication; assistant curator of French Fashion\, Women\, and the First World War (2019–20); and curatorial and editorial assistant for Eileen Gray (2020). Krasner\, born in Brooklyn to Jewish immigrant parents from what is now Ukraine\, and Pollock\, raised in Los Angeles and the American West\, brought specific geographies and inheritances into a shared artistic context. Their early paths traced distinct strands of American modernism that would ultimately converge in the rupture known as Abstract Expressionism\, a movement that valued the translation of inner feelings into dramatic visual action. In the wake of World War II\, artists asked why art mattered and what it could be. For Pollock\, his breakthrough was the “drip” technique\, a radical mode of painting that flourished in a condensed but prolific period. DESCRIPTION:To inaugurate its new space at 25 Greene Street in SoHo\, Garth Greenan Gallery is pleased to present Rosalyn Drexler: My Life Has a Life of Its Own\, a major exhibition dedicated to the Bronx-born artist. Curated by Fiona Laugharn\, the presentation is on view from September 9 through October 24\, 2026. The show is the fifth presentation of Drexler’s work with the gallery\, and her first exhibition since her death last year at the age of 98. \n\n\n\nThe exhibition offers a detailed overview of Drexler’s landmark Pop work of the 1960s. Featuring private and institutional loans\, the show reunites several important works and series from this generative decade. To augment these iconic paintings\, the show also presents a selection of never-before-seen drawings\, objects\, source imagery\, and journals. These materials—uncovered through newly conducted archival research—provide\, for the first time\, a full picture of Drexler’s creative activities\, tracing the depth and complexity of her sui generis approach to the appropriated image. \n\n\n\nFiona Laugharn is an independent curator\, writer\, artist legacy consultant\, and USPAP-compliant appraiser with fourteen years of experience across museums\, galleries\, auction houses\, artist estates\, and foundations. DESCRIPTION:Join us for a virtual book talk on October 28 with Dr. Vishakha Desai. \n\n\n\nAbout the Book: Over the past decade\, social and political movements transformed the arts. From the streets of Chile and Iran to museums in Europe and the United States\, and from questions of representation and repatriation to demands for equity and justice\, protest and activism affected the creation\, presentation\, and interpretation of visual arts around the world. \n\n\n\nBringing together artists\, scholars\, activists\, and museum professionals from varied fields and backgrounds\, this book explores the intersections between visual art and social movements during the last tumultuous decade. Spanning themes of protest art\, museum ethics\, restitution\, and institutional transformation\, the collection considers how visual arts have both responded to and shaped politics and society. Contributors highlight the role of artists as catalysts for change and delve into how institutions grapple with their colonial pasts. \n\n\n\nDr. Vishakha N. Desai is an internationally recognized scholar\, educator\, and museum leader. She is President Emerita of the Asia Society\, where she previously served as President and CEO. At Columbia University\, she is a Senior Fellow and past Chair of the Committee on Global Thought\, and she served as Senior Advisor for Global Affairs to President Lee Bollinger and Senior Advisor to Columbia Global. DESCRIPTION:Join ArtTable for a Curator-Led Tour at the Bass Museum of Art. Jasa McKenzie will lead tours of Yuko Mohri: Unviolated Imperfection and Amalia Pica: Lecturas Posibles. \n\n\n\nUnviolated Imperfection is Tokyo-based artist Yuko Mohri’s first solo exhibition in a US museum\, on view September 17\, 2026 through May 30\, 2027. The exhibition spans three galleries\, each highlighting three interconnected ideas that embody her exploration of imperfect compositions. Through nature and technology in Decomposition\, improvisation and kinetics in Moré Moré (Leaky)\, and chance and sound in Piano Solo\, the installations reveal the invisible systems that connect people\, objects\, and environments. \n\n\n\nEveryone is invited into Amalia Pica’s world. Emphasizing imagination\, language\, and play as fundamental tools for human connection\, Pica constructs environments that encourage participants to redraw\, rewrite\, and recontextualize their surroundings. Lecturas Posibles takes the form of an almost two-dimensional library—an immersive\, interactive installation in which every surface is transformed into a site of inscription and image. Walls\, furniture\, and familiar objects are rendered in chalkboard paint and traced with white\, hand-drawn outlines\, creating a flattened\, graphic environment that oscillates between object and image\, presence and representation. \n\n\n\nAssociate Curator Jasa McKenzie (she/her) is a queer curator whose practice is informed by questions of identity\, human connection\, and expansive modes of imagination. Prior to The Bass\, she led creative programming for The Great Northern\, a multidisciplinary festival in Minneapolis dedicated to climate change solutions. \n\n\n\nLearn more about accessibility at the museum here.
