SUMMARY:New York\, NY | Studio Visit with Aiza Ahmed
DESCRIPTION:Studio view\, Silver Art Projects\, New York\n\n\n\n\n\nJoin ArtTable for a studio visit with Aiza Ahmed! \n\n\n\nAiza Ahmed (b. 1997\, Lahore\, Pakistan) is an interdisciplinary artist working across painting\, drawing\, sculpture\, installation\, and video. Her practice engages borders\, migrations\, public histories\, and private archives within diasporic identities originating from the Indian Subcontinent. Interweaving humor and performance\, Ahmed constructs theatrical compositions drawn from archival and cultural sources that unsettle fixed ideas of nationhood\, masculinity\, and belonging. She is drawn to the spectrum of masculinity\, those who project power and those forced to perform it.Ahmed received her MFA (Painting) from Rhode Island School of Design (2024) and BFA from Cornell University (2020). Her debut New York solo show\, The Music Room\, was presented at Sargent’s Daughters (2025)\, followed by a solo presentation\, Footnotes\, at the inaugural Art Basel Qatar (2026). She has exhibited internationally and her work is held in public collections including the RISD Museum and Brown University\, among others. Ahmed is the recipient of the 2025 Rema Hort Mann Emerging Artist Grant\, including the Peter Hort Award recognition. She has participated in residencies with William Kentridge and the Centre for the Less Good Idea\, The Macedonia Institute\, Chatham\, NY; Silver Art Projects\, New York; and the Arts Intensive Study Program at Fire Station\, Doha\, Qatar.  \n\n\n\nFor questions about access or to request accommodations please contact us at programs@arttable.org. \n\n\n\nProgram Admission: \n\n\n\n\nArtTable Members – $15\n\n\n\nArtTable Member Guest – $20\n\n\n\nGeneral Admission – $25\n\n\n\n\nNot a member? SUMMARY:Los Angeles\, CA | Curator-Led Tour of "Yoko Ono: Music of the Mind" with Sarah Loyer
DESCRIPTION:Join ArtTable for a curator-led tour of Yoko Ono: Music of the Mind with Sarah Loyer. \n\n\n\nYoko Ono\, the visionary artist\, musician\, and activist whose work has shaped contemporary culture for more than seven decades\, will be celebrated at The Broad in Yoko Ono: Music of the Mind\, the artist’s first solo museum exhibition in Southern California\, organized in collaboration with Tate Modern\, London. In spring 2026\, visitors will be invited to directly participate in many of Ono’s works that transform simple acts into expressions of peace and connection. The Broad’s olive trees on East West Bank Plaza will become Wish Trees for Los Angeles\, a key installation (first realized in 1996 at Shoshana Wayne Gallery\, Santa Monica) inviting audiences to tie their own wishes to the tree branches in a living expression of hope in Los Angeles. The exhibition will be on view May 23 through October 11\, 2026.  \n\n\n\nA belief that art could be made solely from the mind informed her early “instruction” works from the mid-1950s to today that will be on view in the exhibition. In these interactive pieces\, short texts describe actions for viewers to complete or reflect upon. On view will be the typescript drafts for her famous 1964 book Grapefruit\, which includes over 200 of these “instructions” arranged by types including music\, painting\, events\, poetry\, and objects: “Listen to the sound of the Earth turning\,” “Fly\,” “Put your shadows together until they become one\,” and “Draw a map to get lost.” These works\, which prompt audiences to think\, imagine\, and question\, exist somewhere between score and poem. In addition to the text-based works\, a selection of the instructions will be activated for audience participation\, such as Painting to Hammer a Nail (1961/1966). \n\n\n\nLearn more about accessibility at the museum here. For questions about access or to request accommodations please contact us at programs@arttable.org. \n\n\n\nProgram Admission: \n\n\n\n\nGeneral Admission – $40\n\n\n\nArtTable Members – $30\n\n\n\nArtTable Guests – $35\n\n\n\n\nNot a member?
