SUMMARY:Washington\, DC | BreakfastTable with Adriana Ospina at the Art Museum of the Americas
DESCRIPTION:Join ArtTable in Washington\, DC for February’s BreakfastTable program with Adriana Ospina\, Director of the Art Museum of the Americas of the Organization of American States. We will tour the museum and have coffee and a light breakfast. Adriana will discuss her work at the AMA\, including unique aspects of directing and curating at an institution focused on cultural diplomacy. \n\n\n\nAdriana Ospina is the Director of the Art Museum of the Americas of the Organization of American States\, as well as an ArtTable member. Since 2007\, she has held the position of Educational Program Manager and\, since 2014\, Curator of the Permanent Collection. She has curated numerous exhibitions; among them are Fusion: Tracing Asian Migration to the Americas; Femininity Beyond Archetypes: Photography by Natalia Arias; A Gaze through the CINTAS Fellowship Program; A Selection of Works from the CINTAS Foundation; Arts of the Americas; and No Ocean Between Us: Art of Asian Diasporas in Latin America & The Caribbean 1945-Present. She has also co-curated exhibitions including Visual Memory: Home + Place; and Dialog: Landscape and Abstraction | Freya Grand and AMA Permanent Collection. Ospina edited the book “Collection of the Art Museum of the Americas of the Organization of American States” (OAS\, 2017). She participated in the College Art Association Conference in 2013 and 2020. Ospina holds an MA in Art History from George Mason University. \n\n\nThe Art Museum of the Americas building\, completed in 1912\, was designed by Paul Cret and Albert Kelsey as the residence of the Directors General of the Pan American Union\, later the Secretaries General of the Organization of American States. In October of 1976\, the residence officially opened its doors to the public\, repurposed\, as the Museum of Modern Art of Latin America\, now the Art Museum of the Americas\, which shares the arts of OAS member states in this Spanish colonial style building\, a National Historical Landmark. \n \n \n\n\nThis program is free and open to ArtTable members only.
