DESCRIPTION:Please join us for a private tour of the exhibition\, A SKY SHATTERED GLASS REFLECTED BY THE SHINING SUN\, on view at Culture House\, with opening remarks by Cicie Sattarnilasskorn\, Culture House’s Gallery Director and a private artist-led tour of the exhibition with Stephanie Mercedes.  \n\n\n\nThe materials employed in the exhibition are both profound and striking\, ranging from melted bullets and destroyed weapons to soap\, wax\, and seeds. The exhibition features a series of installations that explore vulnerability in the context of the queer body\, however\, rather than portraying vulnerability as a weakness\, the works presented in this exhibition encourage the viewer to consider vulnerability as a powerful weapon. \n\n\n\nAdmission: \n\n\n\n\nArtTable Members – Free\n\n\n\n\nCulture House 700 Delaware Ave SW\, Washington\, DC 20024 \n\n\n\nHave you considered becoming an ArtTable Volunteer? \n\n\n\n\nArtTable relies on volunteers nationwide to act as a point of contact for programs when staff are unable to attend. Join today! \n\n\n\nPlease note that any income from program fees goes toward ArtTable’s internal costs for organizing programs. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAbout the Curator\n\nStephanie Mercedes has exhibited and performed at the Bronx Museum\, the Queens Museum\, the Smithsonian Institution\, the Kennedy Center\, and the National Gallery of Art. She has been funded by George Soro’s Open Society Foundation\, Light Works\, NALAC\, The Foundation for Contemporary Art\, WPA\, The DC Commission for the Arts\, the GLB Memorial Foundation\, the Warhol Foundation\, and the Clarvit Fellowship. \nShe has also been an artist in residence at VisArts\, Halcyon Art Labs\, the Bronx Museum\, Montgomery College\, Christopher Newport University\, SOMA\, Lugar a Dudas\, Largo das Artes and La Ira de Dios.
