Considered one of the artists’ most ambitious tableaux\, the large-scale\, multi-media assemblage environment examines what Ed Kienhoz described as “the random accident of birth\, the mystery involved\, and the importance of all life.” Also at L.A. Louver is R.B. Kitaj: Collages and Prints\, 1964-1975. Following the walkthrough\, meet us in the beautifully landscaped garden for a celebratory reception catered by Le Basque catering! \nAbout the Rubell Museum  \nOriginally launched as the Rubell Family Collection\, the museum has been renamed the Rubell Museum to emphasize its public mission and welcome audiences to see its contemporary art. “The word ‘museum’ makes the public feel welcome\, which is exactly our goal\,” stated Mera Rubell. The Rubells pioneered the model for sharing a private collection with the public. The new Rubell Museum expands their commitment to serving as a public resource and extends the public mission they’ve developed to date.  \nSince opening in Wynwood 26 years ago\, the Rubells have added many public programs\, including a partnership with the Miami-Dade County Public Schools\, which engages thousands of students every year\, and collaborations with local universities to offer seminars and critiques. The museum also hosts curatorial training internships and artist residencies with the support of the Knight Foundation. In addition to Mera\, Don\, and Jason Rubell\, the museum leadership includes Juan Roselione-Valadez\, who is the director of the museum and has been part of the team for 21 years.  \nThe Rubell Museum represents a new kind of institution that serves as an advocate for a diverse group of contemporary artists and a resource for both the public and the art world. Past sessions topics have included\, Art Market Legal Basics with Katie Wilson-Milne and John Koegel\, Public Speaking with Michaela Ablon\, Everything You Wanted to Know About Social Media But Were Afraid to Ask with Robin Cembalest and many more! \n\nSession 12: Mounting Effective Communications Campaigns with Juliet Sorce and Barbara Escobar \nA strategic communications campaign can convey your vision and mission to key stakeholders – media\, collectors\, donors\, clients\, and the public – and have a long-term\, lasting impact. In addition to discussing the key elements of an effective campaign\, this session will provide an overview of best practices and strategies for leveraging digital\, print\, and in-person communications platforms and positioning an organization or enterprise to achieve its long-term goals. \nJuliet Sorce has 15 years of experience spearheading strategic planning and integrated communications programs for an international roster of clients across the visual arts\, architecture\, and design. As Executive Vice President at Resnicow and Associates\, Juliet works with clients such as The Frick Art Collection\, where she directs strategic planning and media relations for the Collection’s enhancement and expansion project; Madison Square Park Conservancy\, where she leds communications for the Park’s public art commissioning program and for its presentation at the U.S. Pavilion of the 2019 Venice Biennale; and the Park Avenue Armory\, where she leads media relations for all visual arts programs and commissions among others. Prior to joining Resnicow and Associates\, Juliet was an editor at Tema Celeste\, a bilingual contemporary art magazine based in Milan\, and worked at the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum in its Education Department. She has a master’s degree in Italian language and culture from Middlebury College in Florence and a bachelor of arts degree in humanities and art history from Yale University. \n  \nBarbara Escobar is Vice President at Resnicow and Associates (R+A)\, where she leads communications campaigns and provides counsel on planning\, programming and partnership strategies for leading arts organizations. Her projects have included international campaigns for the opening of the Institute of Contemporary Art\, Miami’s new permanent home in the Miami Design District in 2017; the U.S. Pavilion at the 2017 Venice Biennale\, commissioned by the Baltimore Museum of Art and the Rose Art Museum; and national campaigns for the launch of Frieze Los Angeles and the launch of Frieze Sculpture in New York at Rockefeller Center in 2019. Barbara has also led campaigns for organizations including the Art Dealers Association of America and its annual fair The Art Show\, the Dallas Museum of Art\, The Gordon Parks Foundation\, and Sharjah Art Foundation. Prior to joining R+A\, Barbara was the publicity and events manager at Aperture Foundation where she spearheaded communications\, publicity\, and social media for more than 120 publications\, exhibitions\, and initiatives. She previously worked in a marketing role at Phillips\, and has served as adjunct faculty in arts marketing at SUNY Purchase College and as an advisory board member for the Honolulu Biennial. Banerjee’s sumptuous installations and sculptures assembled from myriad found objects\, both natural and manmade\, together with her exquisite paintings\, both fascinate and intrigue while addressing the crucial global geopolitical\, environmental and social issues we face today.\n\nBorn in Kolkata\, India in 1963\, Banerjee was raised in the United Kingdom and the United States. After receiving a B.S. degree in polymer engineering and working as a polymer research chemist\, she left the profession to pursue an M.F.A. from Yale University. Based in New York City\, Banerjee has exhibited internationally\, with notable solo exhibitions at the Freer|Sackler Gallery\, Smithsonian Institution\, Washington\, D.C. and the Musée Guimet\, Paris. The Museum at FIT. ©The Museum at FIT \nClick here to Register!\nStart your day/ week with a curator-led walkthrough of Paris\, Capital of Fashion with Dr. Valerie Steele\, director of The Museum at FIT and curator of this exhibition.  \nParis\, Capital of Fashion explores how and why Paris became the international capital of fashion. It will feature approximately 75 fashion ensembles\, dating from the 18th century to the present\, as well as accessories. Curated by Dr. Valerie Steele\, director of The Museum at FIT\, this major exhibition is accompanied by a book and symposium that took place on October 18. \nThe introductory gallery places Paris within the global fashion system. After the Second World War\, Paris was repeatedly challenged by new fashion centers\, such as London\, Milan\, and New York. The first section of the main gallery focuses on the rise of the Paris fashion system in the late seventeenth and eighteenth centuries. The court at Versailles was the official epicenter of fashion\, but fashion professionals were based in the city of Paris and foreign visitors were amazed by the Parisian “mania” for fashion. The second section explores the growth of the Paris fashion system with its many métiers de la mode and its increased focus on feminine fashion. Particular attention is paid to the development of the haute couture\, which transformed dressmaking from a small-scale artisanal craft into big business and high art. Today\, globalization and technology have transformed the world of fashion. Through painting\, video\, photography\, and installation\, the artists reflect on themes that have long shaped the Kurdish experience\, such as displacement\, exile\, memory\, and gender\, while giving voice to the resilience of Kurdish communities in the face of decades of persecution. Featured artists include Sherko Abbas\, Serwan Baran\, Kani Kamil\, Hayv Kahrman and Walid Siti of Iraq; Savas Boyraz\, Zehra Dogen and Şener Özmen of Turkey; and Khadija Baker and Bahram Hajou of Syria. The exhibition opens on December 6\, 2019 and runs through February 20\, 2020. \nThe Middle East Institute’s (MEI) new Art Gallery is a unique platform in Washington\, DC dedicated to exhibiting modern and contemporary art\, video and photography from the Middle East and North Africa. John Pinderhughes/Columbia University\n\nThis year ArtTable awards Denise Murrell with the New York Chapter Leadership Award. This award celebrates ArtTable members who are exceptional professionals\, with the intention of recognizing their outstanding performance and contribution to the field. We look forward to presenting this award at this year’s New York Holiday Party at Poster House. \n\nArtTable’s New York Programs Committee is thrilled to announce Denise Murrell as the recipient of this year’s New York Chapter Leadership Award. Murrell’s dissertation and subsequent curatorial direction of Posing Modernity: The Black Model from Manet and Matisse to Today that began at The Wallach (with a sold-out 40 + ArtTable member tour)\, before traveling to the Musee D’Orsay\, Paris\, this Spring\, received an overwhelming amount of praise for its situation of black female subjects as central to the development of modernity.\n\nCelebrated as “A sweeping re-examination of the history of modern art at the Wallach Art Gallery at Columbia University.” –Alison Stewart\, WNYC\, and\, “-a historically significant and aesthetically illuminating show that centers on the black female form as she appears and reappears in the work\, lives\, and imaginations of a number of painters\, photographers\, and filmmakers.”–Hilton Als\, The New Yorker\, Posing Modernity has altered the way that many of our members\, and the art world at large\, interpret the key players in art history.\n\nLast week Denise Murrell was named associate curator for 19th- and 20th-century art at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York\, a newly created position that will involve her working closely with both the museum’s modern and contemporary department and its European painting department. She will begin this role in January.\n\n\n\nPoster House is the first museum in the United States dedicated exclusively to posters.\nThrough exhibitions\, events\, and publications\, Poster House presents a global view of posters from their earliest appearance in the late 1800s\, to their present-day use. Poster House takes its mission from the medium\, aiming to engage and educate all audiences as we investigate this large format graphic design and its public impact.\n\nPosters explore:\n\n 	mass communication and persuasion\n 	the intersection of art and commerce\n 	control of the public domain\n\nFor a poster to succeed\, it must communicate. By combining the power of images and words\, posters speak to audiences quickly and persuasively. Blending design\, advertising\, and art\, posters clearly reflect the place and time in which they were made. Through them\, Poster House explores everything from avant-garde design\, to changing societal norms\, and all the fads and fashions over the last 160 years.\n\nPoster House was founded in 2015 with an eye towards filling a long-acknowledged gap in the New York cultural landscape. While there are several poster museums around the world\, New York\, with its long relationship with advertising and design\, did not have such a dedicated public institution.
