DESCRIPTION:10am PT / 11am MT / 12pm CT / 1pm ET\nPlease join us for a conversation between author Donna Stein Korn and art advisor Dorothy Goldeen about Donna’s newest book\, The Empress and I: How an Ancient Empire Collected\, Rejected and Rediscovered Modern Art. The book was written to reflect Donna’s work to assemble a collection of contemporary art for a new Museum of Contemporary Art in Tehran\, Iran under the auspices of the Imperial Empress Pahlavi\, wife of the Shah of Iran. All programs are non-refundable. \n\nAbout the speakers\nDonna Stein worked for six years at the Museum of Modern Art in New York\, NY after completing her BA at University of California\, Los Angeles. She continued her studies at The Institute of Fine Arts at NYU\, NYC. Stein has written extensively in articles and books on many art subjects including Cubism\, Modern Illustrated Books\, and Photography. She is the first American scholar to study 19th century photography in Iran. Stein has also received awards for her meticulous scholarship. She recently retired as Deputy Director at the Wende Museum of the Cold War in Los Angeles. \nDorothy Goldeen is an art advisor and former gallery owner. Between 2014-2020\, Dorothy was honored to serve as the President of Stone Art LLC and Allan Stone Projects in New York\, the exclusive representative of the Allan Stone Collection\, one of the largest private art collections ever amassed by an individual. Dorothy presided over the sale of an unprecedented number of artworks\, through exhibitions at Allan Stone Projects\, to private collectors\, institutions\, and at auction. In 2021\, Dorothy relaunched Dorothy Goldeen Art Advisory\, which she had initiated in Los Angeles in 1996. Prior to that\, she owned and operated Dorothy Goldeen Gallery in Santa Monica. The gallery represented artists such as Nam June Paik and Magdalena Abakanowicz\, gave early shows to international and trailblazing artists\, such as Beatriz Milhazes\, Diana Thater\, Charles Gaines\, and David Wojnarowicz. Dorothy currently lives and works in New York. She has served on ArtTable’s Board of Directors and was the founding Chair of the Chapter Leadership Forum\, as well as serving twice as the Chair of the Southern California Chapter in Los Angeles.
