October 11, 2023 | 6:00 pm 8:00 pm

Rosa Lowinger

Join ArtTable members and the Miami Design District community as Cuban artist Nereida Garcia-Ferraz interviews conservator Rosa Lowinger, “one of the few prominent Latinas in the field of art and architectural conservation” about her moving memoir, Dwell Time. Book signing and rooftop reception to follow. Please note that we have limited tickets, and an October 5 RSVP deadline.

Rosa Lowinger is a Cuban-born, Miami-raised art conservator specializing in sculpture and architecture. She is the founder and co-chief conservator of RLA Conservation of Art + Architecture, a firm with offices in Miami and L.A. A graduate of NYU’s Institute of Fine Arts Conservation Program, and a Fellow of American Institute for Conservation and the Association for Preservation Technology, Rosa was the 2008-09 Rome Prize Fellow in Conservation at the American Academy in Rome, where she researched the history of vandalism and iconoclasm. She has curated the exhibitions “Concrete Paradise: Miami Marine Stadium at the Coral Gables Museum” and “Promising Paradise: Cuban Allure, American Seduction” at the Wolfsonian. Her books include Tropicana Nights: The Life and Times of the Legendary Cuban Nightclub, and Dwell Time: A Memoir of Art, Exile and Repair

Nereida Garcia Ferraz is a Cuban-born artist whose practice encompasses painting, photography, video, sculpture, and social art projects exploring identity and feminist themes, nature, beauty, and the physical world. Her work has been exhibited by or is in collections of institutions such as the Museum of Modern Art in New York, Yale University, The San Francisco Art Institute, The Museo de Arte Moderno in Mexico City, and MDC Museum of Art and Design.

Thank you to Miami Design District and DISTRICT READS!

“An insightful tale that reveals a kaleidoscope of worlds that Lowinger navigates to chart a life in colors and materials, joys and calamities, rendering lives that were forced into exile many times but always eager to build a sense of home and purpose. A moving account filled with the eccentricities of life, family, and the love of something (and its preservation) that is sometimes beyond words.”— Hrag Vartanian, Co-founder & Editor-in-chief: Hyperallergic
