Join ArtTable for a Curator-Led Tour at the Bass Museum of Art. Jasa McKenzie will lead tours of Yuko Mohri: Unviolated Imperfection and Amalia Pica: Lecturas Posibles. Unviolated Imperfection is Tokyo-based artist Yuko Mohri’s first solo exhibition in a US museum, on view September 17, 2026 through May 30, 2027. The exhibition spans three galleries, each highlighting three interconnected ideas that embody her exploration of imperfect compositions. Lecturas Posibles takes the form of an almost two-dimensional library—an immersive, interactive installation in which every surface is transformed into a site of inscription and image. Walls, furniture, and familiar objects are rendered in chalkboard paint and traced with white, hand-drawn outlines, creating a flattened, graphic environment that oscillates between object and image, presence and representation. |

Washington, DC | Curator-Led Tour of “Esther Bubley: Photographing the Homefront” with Sarah Leavitt
Washington, DC | Curator-Led Tour of “Esther Bubley: Photographing the Homefront” with Sarah Leavitt
Esther Bubley (1921-1998), the daughter of Jewish immigrants, was a documentary photographer who worked for the Office of War Information during WWII. While in the capital, she photographed Wilson (now Jackson-Reed) High School students and followed uniformed soldiers throughout the city—to the Loew’s Theater, Glen Echo amusement park, and Dissin’s Jewish boarding house, where her sister lived. Bubley’s evocative black-and-white photographs show us a bustling city welcoming thousands of new residents experiencing urban life. This exhibition pairs dramatic photography with artifacts from the Museum collection that help illustrate this glimpse into the capital city at a critical time in our nation’s history. |

Match of the Matriarchs centers on a monumental, interactive chessboard featuring 32 life-size, movable chess pieces hand-carved from salvaged wood. Modeled on female archetypes and marine beings—cephalopods, cetaceans, and mermaids—Dodson’s sculptures transform the traditionally hierarchical game into a speculative arena of matriarchal power and ecological symbolism. Long coded as a test of masculine intellect and mastery, chess in this match becomes a site of reversal: the queen’s latent authority resurfaces, and new strategies come into view. Working with reclaimed wood—its ranging tones and scars visible to all—Dodson aligns chess with material memory, presenting the game as a dynamic system of multi-generational wisdom, stratagem, and transformation over domination. |

Join ArtTable for a day trip to New Canaan Connecticut. Our day begins with a Executive Director & Curator-Led Tour of America Abroad: Art, Architecture, and Diplomacy at the Onera Foundation. Presented on the occasion of the 250th anniversary of the United States and FAPE’s 40th year of operations, the exhibition offers rare public access to artworks typically seen only at US embassies—spaces not generally open to the public—and explores how art and architecture have shaped the United States’ diplomatic presence abroad from the Cold War to today. In the afternoon, we will visit The Glass House and Galleries for a two hour tour. The tour tour includes access to 5 structures – the Glass House, Brick House, Painting Gallery, Sculpture Gallery, and Da Monsta. |
